OxfordAQA January 2027: the dates that matter, from entries to results

OxfordAQA runs a January exam series, and it's only for International AS and A-level. There are no International GCSE papers in January. If you're doing GCSEs, your next chances are the November and May/June series.

Everything here comes from two OxfordAQA files: the Key Dates Calendar 2026/27 and the confirmed January 2027 timetable. Both were read on 21 October 2026.

Entries close on 7 November 2026

That's the closing date for January 2027 entries. Your school makes the entry, not you, so ask your exams officer this week which units you're down for.

From 8 November an entry still goes in, but OxfordAQA charges a late entry fee. From 16 December it counts as very late, with a bigger fee, and changes cost extra too.

Two smaller dates sit in the same stretch. 8 November is the last day to apply for access arrangements, such as extra time. 15 December is the last day to withdraw an entry and get the fee back.

Private candidate? Your deadline is earlier. The British Council in Pakistan closes its normal stage on 30 October 2026, and you need to have paid by then, not just filled in the form. Our guide on registering as a private candidate walks through it.

The exams: 5 to 19 January 2027

Papers run on weekdays from Tuesday 5 January to Tuesday 19 January. Every paper starts at 07:00 UK time. In January the UK is five hours behind Pakistan, so that's 12pm here. Schools can move the start by up to 30 minutes either way, so go by the time your school gives you.

Thirteen subjects have papers this series: Accounting, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English Language, English Literature, Further Mathematics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology. Each one has some AS and some A-level units in January, but not every unit runs, so find yours on the timetable.

A few first and last days, as examples:

  • Mathematics: Pure Mathematics 1 on 5 January, Mechanics 2 on 18 January.
  • Physics: Mechanics, materials and atoms on 11 January, Physics in practice on 19 January.
  • Biology: The diversity of living organisms on 5 January, the synoptic paper on 18 January.
  • Economics: Unit 2 on 6 January, Unit 4 on 11 January.

Two English units, Language exploration and Literary Representations, have a coursework option instead of an exam. That coursework had to be in by 5 January.

Results day: 25 February 2027

Schools see results on 24 February. Students get them on Thursday 25 February at 08:00 UK time, which is 1pm in Pakistan.

If a grade looks wrong, the clock starts here. The last day for a review of results for this series is 1 April 2027. If you need your marked paper to decide, priority copies must be asked for by 4 March. Our guide on results, re-marks and resits covers what each option does.

Certificates for January 2027 are issued by 31 May 2027.

If you miss January

The next series is May/June 2027. Entries for it close on 1 March 2027, so you'll still have your January results when you choose. Exams start on 26 April 2027. AS and A-level results come out on 28 July 2027. In 2026 the same results came on 13 August.
